Double Jack Petchey Win

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Two dedicated Radio Northwick Park members have received Jack Petchey Awards.

Established in 1999, The Jack Petchey Foundation gives grants to programmes and projects that benefit young people aged 11-25, in London and Essex. Their major focus is the Achievement Award Scheme.

Isabel Reubin has been awarded the Jack Petchey Achievement Award for her hard work and help around the station. Isabel joined Radio Northwick Park in 2008 and has been a huge help at fundraising events and on her allocated night. Isabel received a certificate and a grant for £300.

Also, Betty Collick won the Jack Petchey Leadership Award. This award is aimed at adults who have demonstrated, in an outstanding way, an ability to encourage and motivate young people aged 11-25 in London. The scheme is open to Youth Leaders, School Teachers, Community Leaders, Volunteer Leaders, Sports Coaches and any other adults who regularly work with young people, are over 21 years old, and have been involved within the organisation for at least 2 years.

Betty Collick has been a member of Radio Northwick Park for 10 years. She teaches people how to present on air and has helped and inspired many of the younger members of Radio Northwick Park. Matt Blank, Chairman of Radio Northwick Park, said “Betty has been one of our outstanding members for the last ten years.

“Her positive outlook on life is an inspiration to others and her constant busy schedule means if ever she misses a week you know it’s only because she is passing her kindness on to others.” Matt Blank presented Betty Collick with a certificate, medallion and a grant for £1,000.

The money will be put towards improving the services which the radio station offers to the patients and staff of Northwick Park Hospital and those in the local community.
