What was Mickey Mouse’s original name? That was just one of the many questions thrown at teams at a charity pub quiz at the weekend.

With nine teams battling out for pub quiz champions, Radio Northwick Park members gathered at The Travellers Rest in Kenton on Saturday, 21st April.

And after a heated competition and a raffle, which included a year’s membership for Spotify and John Lewis gift vouchers, the charity celebrated raising £390.

Fundraising Officer Dan Cotrell said: “It was a packed pub quiz and great to see everyone’s competitive spirit. There was lots of banter, laughter and funds raised.”

All the proceeds will be going to Radio Northwick Park to maintain the station’s equipment and facilities.

And Mickey Mouse’s original name? For all those still guessing, it was Mortimer.

Radio Northwick Park has been awarded $5,000 in an AOL competition.

The competition asked AOL employees to submit a non-profit organisation which they cared about.

Chairman Matt Blank, who entered the competition, said: “It’s great to see companies reward the charities that their employees care about.”

Radio Northwick Park undergoes a makeover to promote its services in the community.

The station has revamped and refreshed its website, Facebook and Twitter. The new website shares all the latest news and photos from the charity’s events and has also introduced a blogging feature for the volunteers and people in the local community.

Chairman Matt Blank believes the changes will “spread the word about the good work our volunteers of over 120 people do.”

He said: “There’s been lots of ‘under the bonnet’ work done, but other big changes include the presentation of the homepage and news articles, with richer media and graphics and a re-write of most of the content on the site.

“We’ve also introduced blogs and I hope as this area grows many interesting articles will be read and shared among our users. It’s not just limited to Radio Northwick Park, but broader genres including music, health and the community.”

The charity, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, is also looking for members of the community to become guest bloggers.

Matt said: “We’re looking at internal and external writers to produce interesting and engaging articles for us. If you would like to contribute to this section, please contact Heena our Press Officer on the contact page.”
