Hi,
At the studio managers last night Clare talked about taking news clips from the IRN news website, I looked and saw that we need to sign in.
Are we registered and if so what is our user name and pass word?
Thanks
Steve C

Hi Steve,
We are already registered. If, when you click on IRN Net Newsroom, you go to the bottom of the screen where it says something along the lines of "If you are already registered click here" click on the link it should take you straight into it. The username and password are already stored in the computer in the record library and the studio.

Clare,
I can see long clips, is there a place where there are short clips, or do we need to edit the long clips

The passwords are not stored on the PCs it logs in automatically as it detects the IP address for the radio station. This means anyone with a laptop or PC connected to our network can use the net newsroom. Handy if you are using your own laptop in the studio.

yes we managed it.
Now, we managed to get the news clips to play in windows media on the right screen, with ots on the left, but with only one mouse it can be difficult to fire the clip on the right then the jingles on the left, what is the solution to this one, can the IRN clips be loaded as OTS files, because we couldn't work it out.

Steve,
As you have identified if you play the clips in media player this isn't ideal. For a start media player only comes out of the left OTS fader in the studio and this can be complicated to get right in a show.
You can import the IRN tracks into OTS.
Save the clip in a folder somewhere on the PC
Use the icon in OTS that looks like a file folder with a red down arrow and a musical note, this opens a window, select the refresh file or folder icon. Locate where you saved the clips and refresh the folder. This will import all the audio tracks in the folder into OTS.
You can then search for them using the normal search facility or look for them in the uncategorised section of the media library. If you are being really clever then you can insert a stop/recue directive into the playlist. This will ensure that when you play the track, once one clip plays it will automatically stop and cue the next track in the list so that you don't have to fiddle around with the mouse when you are reading the news.
