Fundraising

Radio Northwick Park rely on funding through grants, donations and fundraising events to help us continue the work we do and also to better ourselves. Money raised goes towards the smallest of jobs such as general maintenance around the station, to more of the essentials such as prizes patients can win, to large projects such as the refurbishment of our facilities.

Over the years we’ve had many different types of fundraising events, some aimed at the public, others include friends and family of station volunteers or just volunteers themselves. Here are some of the events we’ve put on:

Thames Boat Party
Hosting elements of the Harrow Show
Hosting elements of Under One Sky
Quiz Nights
Discos
Broadcasting from shopping centres
Local music gigs
Busking
Supermarket, Underground and Pub collections

A highlight for 2010, took place when we joined together with another local charity, The Alan Senitt Memorial Trust, to put on a gala night with dinner and a quiz, hosted by Little Britain’s Matt Lucas. The night proved a massive success, raising several thousands of pounds for both charities.

Other ways we raise money are by individuals taking it upon themselves to get sponsored for doing various activities. In 2010 one of our longest serving members, Charles Biggie, raised over £600 for doing a 100 mile bike ride. In 2008 over £1,500 was made by three presenters locking themselves in the studio to make a 24 hour show, something that in 2010 we’re doubling to have a whole weekend of and raise even more than before.

If you have any fundraising ideas, or would like to be involved in our next event, please don’t hesitate to get in contact. We’re always very interested to hear from you.
