The two teams raised over £3,000 between them for Radio Northwick Park, making it RNP’s most successful fundraiser ever. The donation figure also continues to grow even though the weekend has already ended.

As well as a fabulous amount of money raised, we’d like to make public some other statistics regarding our website:

During the challenge, Friday – Sunday, 810 people clicked on our listen live link, compared to 129 the week before in the same timeframe.

We had 6,614 unique visitors throughout last week, compared to 4,091 the week prior. 3,043 of those visits were over the weekend.

Out of those visitors we had 15,998 hits, compared to 10,112 the week before.

This has been an extraordinarily successful weekend beating all expectations, financial forecasts and more than doubling what was raised during the 24 Hour Challenge in 2008.

We’d like say a MASSIVE thank you and congratulations to Hannah Ashman, Lisa O’Grady, Izzy Reubin, Adam Glynn, Heena Tailor, Jade Wight, Dan Cottrell and Rishi Ruparelia.

Now, in 2010, it’s happening all over again; but this time, it’s even bigger!

Starting at 10pm on Friday 20th August, four presenters will be locked into the Radio Northwick Park studio for an entire day – broadcasting live, and uninterrupted for 24 hours. But the challenge doesn’t finish when they do; at 10pm on Saturday ANOTHER team of four take over the reigns, to broadcast for ANOTHER unbroken 24 hours. It’s 48 hours of live radio, in:

THE 24 HOUR CHALLENGE – SATURDAY VS SUNDAY!

But who wins? YOU decide! Team Saturday and Team Sunday are both trying to raise as much support for themselves as possible – and whoever manages to raise the most money shall be declared the winner! All of the proceeds will be going towards improving the service that Radio Northwick Park provides through the building of a new studio.

You can pledge your support to either Team Saturday or Team Sunday at their Just Giving pages:

On top of our other nominated entries including Best Female Presenter and Station of the Year, 2010 is shaping up to be a great year for us.

Congratulations to David for winning the prestigious award and becoming the best presenter in the UK. And a big thanks to Ben Punter for putting together our Special Event entry as well as overseeing all our nominated ones.

On David’s winning entry, the judges said “Up, engaging and fresh – David clearly stood out from the rest in this category. All of the judges loved the moving story from the patient too. They felt his presentation style was perfect for the target audience, warm, friendly and ideal for the hospital environment.”

For our Special Event entry which was highlights from our day at Under One Sky in June last year, one judge said “This entry has everything for me. Excitement, surprises and a real sense of community – pushing the boundaries of traditional hospital radio.”
